Bagatti Valsecchi Museum

Museo Bagatti Valsecchi, muzeum z kolekcją dzieł sztuki i zabytkowych wnętrz

The Bagatti Valsecchi Museum, located in a building that brothers Fausto and Giuseppe Bagatti built in the late 19th century, is one of the most fascinating and unique places in Milan, just steps from via Monte Napoleone.

In the splendid neo-Renaissance setting of this house-museum, you can admire paintings by Giovanni Bellini and Bernardino Zen, stone, wooden, and terracotta reliefs, intricately carved, decorated, and painted furniture, valuable ivory and ceramic sculptures, tapestries, weapons, and armor – all from the 15th and 16th centuries, collected and used by the noble Bagatti Valsecchi family.

The exhibits are still presented in their original arrangement, within a setting whose unparalleled craftsmanship by 19th-century artisans catered to the tastes of collectors of that era. The museum conducts research activities, organizes meetings, seminars, and courses, and also offers guided tours, suitable even for the youngest visitors.

I lived in Milan for 18 years, and it was there that I came to know the city’s daily life best - not just its landmarks, but also its rhythm, its habits, and its less obvious sides. Today I live in Wrocław, but I still return to Milan regularly.
