Construction took about 13 months and cost $2 million.    <\/p>\n\n<p>Initially, the stadium was owned and used exclusively by AC Milan, but since 1947 it has also become the home of Inter.<\/p>\n\n<p>Over the years, the stadium has undergone numerous expansions and renovations. Between <strong>1955 and 1957<\/strong>, a support structure was built for a second level of grandstands, increasing capacity to 85,000 seats, of which about 60,000 were seated. <\/p>\n\n<p>In <strong>1980<\/strong>, the stadium was renamed in honor of <strong>Giuseppe Meazza<\/strong>, a legendary Milanese footballer who played for Inter and AC Milan and was a two-time world champion with the national team.<\/p>\n\n<p>The last major renovation took place between <strong>1987 and 1990<\/strong>, for the World Cup <strong>Italia\u201990<\/strong>, which led to the construction of a third ring and the roofing of all seats.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has--font-size\">Stadium design and capacity: 4 stands for about 80,000 spectators<\/h2>\n\n<p>The maximum capacity of the San Siro stadium is about <strong>80 thousand <\/strong>seats (80,018 precisely).
